Alles over OpenWengo Code Camp | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Slashdot | 2006-06-26 12:19:10
An anonymous reader writes "It seems that OpenWengo launched its first Code Camp a few days ago. The contest is apparently following the same process as Google Summer of Code, but is mainly focused on VoIP software. There are 14 projects for students to work on. Among them, a couple pretty interesting ones, like creating an XUL interface editor. There is a 3500 Euro stipend at stake for students completing their project. I also find interesting that most of the available projects can be reused by any software project using a GPL-compatible license."

Alles over Summer Camps Join Fray Against MySpace | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Slashdot | 2006-06-24 16:08:56
The New York Times reports that now even summer camps are raising concerns about social networking sites such as MySpace, Friendster, and Facebook. Camps are worried about the ramifications of certain activities being associated with their summer programs after revealing pictures or postings are made online. Some camps are banning digital cameras, while others are instructing campers and parents to remove references to the camps from blog postings. Of course, the camps take the stance that they are merely trying to protect the children: "The information that kids share today often is personal and private information that allows predators to track them down. We're also concerned about cyber-bullying."

Alles over Brown Leaves Pre-Draft Camp Early | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | NBA.com: News and Scores | 2006-06-17 19:34:53
"Larry Brown's decision yesterday to bolt Orlando and the pre-draft camp early has irritated Knicks brass further, if that's possible. After yesterday's morning session, Brown, in the mid-afternoon, took a private plane believed to be destined for the Hamptons, leaving the Knicks and Isiah Thomas behind. The pre-draft camp concludes this afternoon. Brown decided to miss two sessions, last night's and this morning's. Brown, who was "dreading" coming to Orlando, did not seek the Knicks' permission to bolt," writes Marc Berman of the NEW YORK POST. http://www.nba.com/news/300147.html?rss=true
